Flying your pets to their new home?
Sharron G asked:
Anyone have any experience flying their pets across the country to their new home? To drug or not to drug, that is the question?
(I figured that I would need drugs if I decided to DRIVE my four cats myself)

I’ve flown several dogs and have never drugged any of them. Sometimes drugs cause more complications than the flying itself. It can cause difficulty breathing , not to mention not all animals respond to drugs the same. I’ve flown my boxer in cargo, which I’m not too comfortable doing b/c its not climate controlled or anything. A lot of animals actually die down there. I’ve also flown with my Pekingese in the plane cab with me. That was easy and he was totally fine. The key is to get your animals used to their carrier, so it won ‘t be any big deal when they have to stay in it to travel.
