I have a high strung yellow lab and a black Maine Coon. My lab thinks he is a lap dog, but my cat is the definition of a scardey cat, so what do I do to help them know there are 2 new babies in the house?

just curious if silica gel or charcoal freshener are safe for my dog and cat as they breathe in some of the smell? \
